McCall’s M8030 (#JosieMcCalls)

Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you all are ready for the upcoming week. Last week was another rough workweek, but working on this lovely shirt dress was really relaxing. And don’t you just love the color? It’s like wearing your own personal ray of sunshine!

The fabric

I used this mojito rayon slub that I purchased from Melanated Fabrics some time last year in the color mustard. I love how bright it is! They don’t have this particular color anymore, but they do have other color ways that you can check out.

The pattern

I used McCall’s M8030, and I sewed view C. I cut L for the bust/waist and graded to XL for the hips. The instructions were relatively straightforward. I was tired while sewing it, so there were some snafus, especially with the collar. It was nothing that my seam ripper couldn’t fix. I would have liked a little more ease in the hips, as I am quite curvy but it’s not terrible.

Final thoughts

Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I liked this dress until I put it on and took pictures. I was on the fence. Now I like it a lot. As I mentioned before, I would like a little more ease in the hips. I also will shorten the side slit next time because it was a little higher than I would like. I do plan on making views A and B in the future as well.

Hope you all have a great week! Until next time!
