About Me
Hey, friends! Erika here!
I’m a pediatrician and budding sewist/DIYer living in sunny Orlando, FL. I first touched a sewing machine in my 6th grade Home Ec class. It was fun. We made a pillow, and I promptly forgot about sewing.
Years later during medical school and residency, the thought of re-learning how to sew crossed my mind often, but there was never enough time. My hours were all over the place, I had exams to study for, I was chronically sleep deprived. I would make random trips to Jo-Ann’s to look at sewing machines, and then I would talk myself out of it. There just wasn’t enough time.
Fast forward to last year. I was in my 4th year out in practice, fighting a losing battle with physician burnout. Then, the pandemic hit and added another layer of stress and anxiety. I needed an outlet. With everything shut down, I realized I had nothing but time. I bought that sewing machine. I immersed myself in sewing videos on Youtube. Sewing became my therapy.
My goal with this blog is not only to share my creations, but to show you how therapeutic sewing can be. Welcome to my world!
Much love,
Erika
