I’m Back! (Simplicity/Mimi G S 9224)
Hello everyone!! As you all know, I love a good wrap dress, and Simplicity and Mimi G’s S9224 is no exception. I loved it so much that as soon as I finished my first, I immediately got started on another one. I couldn’t wait to write about it for the blog but as the saying goes, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”. I fought a losing battle against my ongoing burnout last month, and I felt bogged down in a never-ending barrage of charts and all things related to medicine and patient care. My self-care, which includes sewing, fell by the wayside. After a lot of soul searching, I am back and determined not to let burnout (and these never-ending charts) get the best of me! Maybe one day I’ll dive deeper into the topic of burnout, but for now, lets talk about this pattern!
The fabric
For my initial make, I used the Dali Zebra Poplin Print from Melanated Fabrics. I then made it again with this blue rayon challis from LA Finch Fabrics. Unfortunately, neither of these is in stock anymore, but they have plenty of other fabulous fabrics from which you can choose.
The pattern
I made view A both times. I cut a size 16 in the bodice and graded up to a 22 in the hips. The bodice was a little big for me, so I’ll try making a muslin for a more custom fit before I make it again. The pattern directions were easy to follow, and as always, Mimi G has a sew-along up on YouTube if you’re more of a visual person like I am.
Final thoughts
You guys already know I’m making this again. I may mess around and have closet full of these wrap dresses. Until next time!
